Port of New Orleans

The Port of New Orleans is at the center of the world’s busiest port complex – Louisiana’s Lower Mississippi River. Its proximity to the American Midwest via a 14,500-mile inland waterway system, six Class One railroads and the interstate highway system makes New Orleans the port of choice for the movement of cargoes such as steel, rubber, coffee, containers and manufactured goods.

Port of South Louisiana

The Port of South Louisiana has eight first-rate port-owned facilities, ranging from grain elevators to general cargo facilities. It serves as landlord of these, which are leased to operating companies such as Occidental Chemical, Archer Daniels Midland, and Cargill. The exception is the Globalplex Intermodal Terminal, purchased by the Port in 1992 that is being redeveloped into a world-class complex to accommodate a variety of dry bulk and breakbulk cargo.

Port of Fourchon

The Greater Lafourche Port Commission has targeted Port Fourchon for growth and development of port facilities because of its ideal geographic location on the Gulf Coast. Fourchon's primary service market is domestic deepwater oil and gas exploration, drilling, and production in the Gulf of Mexico. Port Fourchon is comprised of 1300 developed acres that house state-of-the-art service facilities, and the port is in the midst of its Northern Expansion project, which is more than doubling the port's size and will further accommodate the industry's growing needs.

U.S. Coast Guard

For over two centuries the U.S. Coast Guard has safeguarded our Nation’s maritime interests in the heartland, in the ports, at sea, and around the globe. We protect the maritime economy and the environment, we defend our maritime borders, and we save those in peril. This history has forged our character and purpose as America’s Maritime Guardian — Always Ready for all hazards and all threats.

Department of Homeland Security

The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. Our duties are wide-ranging, but our goal is clear – keeping America safe.

NOAA

NOAA is an agency that enriches life through science. Our reach goes from the surface of the sun to the depths of the ocean floor as we work to keep citizens informed of the changing environment around them.
